Description |
The 21st Century Community Learning Program is hiring Jefferson County School District 509J students to assist with activity stations, student supervision, assisting teachers as needed, helping with homework, and working with and tutoring students in grades K-8 during in-person programming.
Tutors will work Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for this full-day program and will receive a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks.
Locations: Jefferson County Middle School and Warm Springs K-8 Academy
*Peer tutors would be responsible for getting themselves to/from JCMS and Warm Springs K-8 Academy location (whichever location is decided).
Peer Tutors will work with students individually and in small groups depending on what a classroom teacher would like assistance with. They would also help gather supplies, make copies, etc., for teachers. Peer Tutors need to be available for attending field trips, which may require some hiking and being outside in the heat. If under the age of 18, you will receive the breakfast and lunch that is provided.

Educational Aspect |
Peer Tutors will grow their communication skills, level of responsibility by supervising K-8 students, follow directions given and follow through with the task they're given. Peer Tutors will expand their own knowledge as they tutor students in various classroom subjects. At times, Peer Tutors may be working with multiple students at various grade levels at the same time so you will learn how to multi-task.

Further Requirements |
- Must be a Jefferson County 509J High School Student; 15 years of age and older.
- Must attend the two-day Peer Tutor workshop/training prior to employment commencing.
- Must demonstrate good academics and behavior records.
- Application Procedures: Interested candidates are required to apply through the Jefferson County 509J School District Website. To be considered as an Internship Applicant through Youth CareerConnect, students must work with Debbie Taylor, the Jefferson County Internship Coordinator, to create a YCC profile, resume, and Data Release in addition to completing the application on the school district website.
