Description |
Thank you for your interest in joining The Source Weekly’s internship program! WHO qualifies to intern: You are welcome to apply for an internship if you are a current student earning high school or college credit for your participation in the internship program, or you are a recent graduate required to complete an internship as part of your educational programming. You may be studying journalism, English, multimedia, graphic design, political science, history, art, or any other subject, really — but you’ll need to tell us how your internship here will relate to your field of study. Before you begin your internship, we will ask for proof of your participation in a school-sanctioned program and the contact information for the coordinator of your internship program. Our internships are unpaid and there is no promise of being hired as a paid employee upon completion; however, we will review that possibility on a case-by-case basis. WHAT to expect and what you’ll be doing: Every day is different, but you can expect to do both job shadowing (following reporters, editors and designers as they do their work) as well as working on calendar, editorial or design tasks under the supervision of our editorial. |
Educational Aspect |
Your internship with The Source Weekly is intended to immerse you in the world of alternate weekly and community publications, which can include learning about print publication as well as online journalism and multimedia. Simply put, internships remain the #1 way for budding journalists, writers and arts-minded professionals to learn the realities of the work world.
