Description |
As members of the guarding team, lifeguards ensure the safety of all guests of Sunriver Owners Association’s aquatics facilities. Lifeguards anticipate potential emergencies and identify and respond to emergency situations according to their American Red Cross lifeguard training. Lifeguards enforce pool policies and effectively communicate why they are in place. Lifeguards are also key to providing a welcoming environment for all guests and fellow employees. Growth opportunities for supervisory positions are available. |
Educational Aspect |
Beyond the lifeguard certification and First Aid/CPR/AED skills, interns will develop qualities key to being a successful employee: professionalism, dependability, reliability, and responsibility. In addition, as lifeguards, interns will learn to remain calm under pressure, make critical decisions quickly, communicate clearly, interface well with the public, and have confidence that they can handle the most challenging situations. |
Further Requirements |
Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED required (or ability to obtain at earliest offered certification opportunity). Not yet certified? No problem. We offer on-site certification. Must be able to swim 300 yards, be capable of moving/lifting 50 pounds, and work both indoors and outdoors in different weather conditions. This is a highly collaborative team environment. |
Lift Requirements |
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, swim, walk, sit, twist and bend. The employee is frequently required to hear and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste or smell and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Maintain ability to swim 300 yards and tread water per American Red Cross standards. Maintain all lifeguard skills at test-ready levels. |
