Description

Scope of Position:

The BendFilm Festival Intern will receive the opportunity to learn the intricate workings of BendFilm. BendFilm is a film festival Moviemaker Magazine named among the "25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World" and is a near-constant fixture of MovieMaker magazine's "50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee.”

 

The intern's duties will include helping to execute the following for the 2022 BendFilm Festival, October 6-23, 2022:

- Assist Head of Festival Programming in obtaining and communicating schedules for filmmakers, jurors, and other guests.

- Assist the social media and public relations team with select promotional and marketing efforts.

- Assist Festival team in securing participation from businesses in guide content like guide ads and discount guide listings.

- Be responsible for helping to enter all pertinent Festival film screening information into the online ticketing system. This includes, but is not limited to correctly entering:

- Film title, director, film synopses, film schedule, film genre, and supplemental information such as music acts and shorts that may precede the main program.

- Coordinate with other artistic acts that will supplement the official film program. These artistic acts may include the following:

- Performing artists

- Fine artists

- Speakers and thought-leaders

- Be responsible for helping to secure “swag” from area business for Festival VIPs.

- Festival intern will assist Operations Manager at the Festival “Kick-off” Party checking in guests, assisting with raffles, selling tickets, and other event logistics.

- Work with the public relations team in local outreach efforts. This may include:

- Contacting local organizations to determine interest in helping promote select festival screenings.

- Distributing promotional materials to partnering organizations.

- Assisting Operations Manager and Head of Festival Programming in coordinating day-of screening logistics as it relates to partner’s inclusion in the program.

- Logistics to set up a pre-film introduction or post-film discussion. 

- Assist in providing technical support and public-facing customer service for the Virtual Film Festival.

- Assist in quality assurance of all film content.

- During the Festival (October) Festival Intern will:

- Be the primary box office manager and contact, reporting to the Operations Manager.

- Be the right-hand person of the Operations Manager to assist on all general Festival needs and

troubleshooting.

- Assist in being a liaison between the Festival and visiting guests and filmmakers.

Educational Aspect
- Vital communication skills with coworkers.
- Computer systems and processing: intern could be involved in working with PhotoShop, Editing, Eventive (ticketing system), Google Account management.
- Good customer service skills.
- Professionalism with filmmakers, sponsors, and customers.
- Experience in the operations of a Non-Profit.
- Insight into the Filmmaking Industry. 
Further Requirements
- Residing in Bend is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Gmail is preferred.
- Previous experience in editing film and photoshop is preferred, but not required.
