Description
We at Madras Animal Hospital are looking to add to our team. We are looking for a couple of Weekend Kennel Technicians to work in our clinic.  The ideal intern would have attention to detail for the assigned duties and have the ability to work independently to ensure the task is complete.  There is a lot of cleaning involved with this fun and exciting job.
 
Major Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Feed, walk, exercise, and bathe animals as needed in our care.
- Administer medications as indicated by owners and veterinarian.
- Bring animals to and from the kennel during check-in and check-out times.
- Clean up after animals both inside the facility and outside, and clean animal runs and cages every morning and as needed in the evening.
- Maintain the clinic as a whole by performing tasks including, but not limited to, washing dishes and litter pans, sweeping/mopping floors, wiping counters, taking out the trash, cleaning bathrooms, and use a washing machine and clothes dryer.
- Assist other staff members on occasion with such tasks as helping restrain an animal, helping clients with their pets, etc.
- Documents jobs completed and dog’s medical information. Notify supervisor of medical problems immediately.
- Medicate animals, clean wounds.
 
Skills and Abilities
- Effectively communicate in the English language both in writing and orally.
- Accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Ability to read written instructions and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Be self-motivated to carry out the duties assigned to you.
- Clean in a methodical and orderly fashion from one area to another.
- Regularly stand for extended periods.
- Frequently walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain confidence around pets.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Be reliable and punctual.
 
Shift Options
1. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - 4:00 p.m. until your duties are done.
2. Friday 4:00 p.m. until your duties are done, Saturday & Sunday 8:00 a.m. until duties are done, and return at 3:30 p.m. and work until your duties are done.
Educational Aspect
- Proper cleaning and sanitizing in a veterinary setting.
- Time management.
- Medicating animals.
- Proper restraint of animals.
