Description |
The Intern will be learning how to properly feed, care for, and handle bunnies. Proper bunny living conditions require indoor space for bunnies to stretch and run, correct diets, basic grooming techniques, cleaning their living space, including litter boxes, helping with enrichment while allowing the bunnies to play in our enclosed play area and some work with the other animals (i.e., pigs and goats).
Most of the work will take place inside the bunny rescue barn, which is heated and cooled. Larger animals are in a covered barn area or in the field outside the bunny barn.

Educational Aspect |
The intern will learn best practices for healthy, happy, domestic bunnies including:
-Longevity of bunny life
-Living conditions and care needed
-Food necessary to ensure a healthy gut and no GI Statis
-Enrichment and socialization needs to stop boredom and destructive behavior
-Veterinary needs: spay/neuter, RHDV2 vaccinations

Further Requirements |
Love and respect for animals and the desire to ensure their health and happiness. The internship can be terminated at any time if Ember's determines this requirement isn't being fulfilled.

Lift Requirements |
If you are able (not required) there may be some lifting of a bale of hay or a 40lb bag of wood bedding pellets. Most of the lift requirements include lifting water dishes and litter boxes. We do have some pens located overhead with the need to climb a ladder in order to clean their space.
