Description |
What stories will you tell from your summer? We’re looking for crew members for this legendary (22 years running) local summer program. Crews of young people spend the summer exploring the National Forest and doing conservation work with a crew leader and US Forest Service staff. Work is outdoors and will take you places that you didn’t even know existed. No experience required (on-the-job training for all kinds of skills), but should be willing to have some adventures working 9-hour days, 4 days per week (3-day weekends!). Jobs vary throughout the season and crews will work with many different Forest Service disciplines: jobs include fire fuels reduction, habitat restoration, recreation area management, trail work, and more. Youth report to Forest Service offices each morning, then a crew leader drives them in USFS vehicles out to the forest to complete work. Crews return at the end of each day. This is a summer job unlike anything else! |
Educational Aspect |
Daily work with US Forest Service professionals learning a wide variety of technical skills. Conservation education about projects, career day, and college day.
|
Further Requirements |
Must be willing to learn how to work outdoors for 9-hour days. Must be willing to learn new skills and work as a team member to complete tangible projects. |
Lift Requirements |
Applicants should be able to lift up to 30 lbs, walk on uneven ground, and be able to work a full day outdoors away from amenities (kitchen, bathrooms, etc). |
