About the Internship
The full scope of activities run from ideation to post workshop follow-up:
      • Ideation - Develop ideas for workshops with input from our members, partners, and leading content providers in the space.
      • Structure Workshop - Determine the details of the workshop: format, number in series, key objectives, facilities and materials needs, costs and revenue model.
      • Develop budget for workshop - P&L.
      • Recruit leaders and panel members.
      • Secure facilities and acquire needed supplies/resources.
      • Develop curriculum - Works with trainers/panel to refine objectives and create curriculum.
      • Train trainers - As necessary, work with trainers to develop teaching strategies and skills.
      • Communicate with Attendees - Develop and distribute information for attendees, collect waivers and other required information, setup WhatsApp chat groups.
      • Setup facility and manage physical experience.
      • If workshop series - Address attendees issues and needs.
      • Get feedback from attendees.
      • Provide feedback to trainers.
The responsibilities of the Workshop Development Coordinator can include a role in any/all of these activities, depending on experience, interest and skill.  Note that some of these activities require the coordinator to be on-site.
 
About School of Ranch
School of Ranch is a Central Oregon-based nonprofit corporation.  We produce live workshops for new farmers and ranchers run by their experienced neighbors.  Our mission is to teach the skills of responsible homesteading, strengthen our communities by connecting newcomers with locals, and create economic opportunities for people looking to reenter the workforce. 
 
School of Ranch is a startup organization.  We launched last May 2022.  We have over 140 members, have conducted many live workshops on our own and with prominent local partners including OSU Extension, the USDA’s National Resource Conservation Service, the Roundhouse Foundation, and the Central Oregon Veterans Ranch.

Learning Opportunities
    • This internship offers many varied opportunities to learn, particularly for people interested in curriculum and development and event management. You will get hands-on learning and see the end results of your work. 
    • You will be working directly with the founder of School of Ranch, Mark Gross, a successful internet entrepreneur and former teacher.  You will have terrific visibility into the life of a start-up, learning about those realities along with the specifics of your functional area.
