Description |
This position is comprised of 90% Park Maintenance and 10% Customer Service. The Park Maintenance includes, but is not limited to, maintaining landscapes, preparing athletic fields, janitorial tasks, repair of irrigation systems and other park district equipment, operation of mowers and other park maintenance equipment, and performing safety inspections. Regarding the Customer Service aspect, the intern will use a friendly and helpful demeanor when interacting with the public, answering their questions and solving their problems.

Educational Aspect |
The intern will primarily be learning preventative care and maintenance of parks in the Redmond Area Park and Recreation District, preparation of athletic fields, and the other skills listed in the description. Additionally, the student will learn cleaning and care skills for the interiors and exteriors of the building facilities related to the parks, and how to best perform a safety inspection.
This work will be done both independently and in collaboration with the Parks Team.

Further Requirements |
1) Fill out a RAPRD application (your YCC Internship Coordinator will send you this application)
2) Park maintenance experience is preferred; a high school diploma or the equivalent is required
3) A valid Oregon driver's license
4) Possession of CPR/PR certificate and Advanced First Aid from the American Red Cross
5) Able to work independently and problem solve
6) Move about inside/outside facilities and/or remain stationary for extended periods of time

Lift Requirements |
The internship is in an outdoor/park environment and may require the physical condition necessary for lifting or moving 50 pounds as well as performing the duties listed above.
