The Jefferson County Library is offering a 12-week unpaid internship for a student to learn more about a career in Library and Information Science. The volunteer intern would spend time working with specialists in various fields of library science: circulation, reference desk, cataloging, media, youth services, programming, and directorship. 
 
Educational Aspect
This job-shadowing experience will help students decide if Library Science is a good career choice for them. The intern would gain valuable work experience including soft skills (personality, attitude, flexibility, motivation, and manners) that help people succeed in the workplace. The experience could be used for a future job reference and request a letter of recommendation from library staff.
