Description
This is an unpaid volunteer position to help with the Jefferson County Library's 2021 Children's Summer Reading Program. The in-person programs go from June 21 to July 19. The minimum amount is 3 hours/week with more hours available. Duties would include preparing, setting up, and cleaning up for programs, assisting parents and children during the program, and possibly assisting with stories and songs. Programs are held every Monday at 2:00 p.m.. Volunteers are needed from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on those days. More volunteer opportunities are available on other days for preparing crafts. 
Educational Aspect
This opportunity would allow volunteers to learn what it is like to work with children, plan and implement programming, and insight into the field of Library and Information Science. 
Hours could count toward volunteer requirements in various programs such as National Honor Society. The volunteer could include the experience on a college application. Regular volunteers would be able to request letters of recommendation from library staff.
