Description
The Water Operator and General Laborer Internship is an opportunity to get first-hand experience in producing and delivering one of the community's most basic needs, water.
Some basic aspects of this internship:
- Unload tools, prepare materials, stack building materials, and set up equipment
- Follow instructions from foreman or supervisor
- Consult with construction plans
- Direct traffic safely around the construction or road maintenance site
- Use construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks
- Follow all health and safety regulations
- Ensure proper PPE is worn for each assigned task
- Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
- Safely operate a variety of tools including pressure washers, jackhammers, drills, saws, grinders, etc.
- Prepare construction sites by digging, moving dirt, or compacting
- Provide assistance to maintenance crew as needed
- Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials
- Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly
Educational Aspect
This opportunity will teach the intern many skills in the construction and trades industries as well and the opportunity to work in a terrific environment with a great group of individuals.  Learn interpersonal skills and customer relations.  Time with the water district can be applied to requirements for obtaining a Drinking Water Operators License.

- Ability to physically stand, bend, and squat 
- Positive attitude and excellent work ethic
- Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with the Water District team
