The Retail Specialist performs production tasks in support of Thrift Store donation processing, merchandising, and recycling operations as necessary. The Retail Specialist will not generally work directly with individuals who are eligible for intellectual and developmental disability services, but these duties are performed in a vocational setting in keeping with the Opportunity Foundation’s philosophy regarding growth and development as it relates to supportive and respectful settings. |

The intern will learn how to exhibit excellent customer service skills and many aspects of retail, including processing, merchandising, and cashiering.

Must be willing to do routine and detailed tasks, and work effectively and productively as a team member. Must be patient, tolerant, tactful, alert, and have a neat personal appearance for successful job performance. The Retail Specialist is expected to contribute to staff morale by supporting the team with enthusiasm, confidence, and loyalty. The individual must use respectful and courteous language when communicating with team members, supervisors, and customers, and have a pleasant and positive attitude. The Retail Specialist needs to remain calm if the environment gets stressful during busy times, so remaining patient and level-headed with customers and co-workers is admirable. The individual must have good interpersonal skills; getting along well with colleagues and customers is essential. |
