Description

The Heart of Oregon Corps' Stewardship program is located out of our Bend office and is open to applicants from across Central Oregon, between the ages of 16-24. Stewardship crew members have the opportunity to earn wages in a flexible work environment and learn valuable job skills from dedicated Crew Leaders. Crews will work on a variety of environmental projects throughout the year, such as recycling, litter patrol, Fire Free week, fuels reduction projects, and landscaping. This important work not only improves the community but teaches the members valuable job skills. No previous experience required.

Educational Aspect

At HOC, the staff is dedicated to fostering growth and confidence in our crew members. This is a work environment where members are encouraged to ask questions, gain knowledge, learn leadership skills, and be supported through mistakes and setbacks. Members will learn basic soft skills that will better prepare them for success in traditional work environments. These skills may include time management, daily preparation, conflict resolution, and teamwork, among others. Members will also become familiar with the use and maintenance of both manual and power tools. Regularly used tools include rakes, brooms, shovels, saws, backpack blowers, string trimmers, and brush cutters. Members can expect to work outside every day with their peers and Crew Leader.
