Description |
The Health Intern will be responsible for one large project that will be completed by the end of the internship. The COHC staff will work with the Health Intern to select a project that benefits the COHC and benefits the Intern. Large projects may include: researching city, county, and state legislative processes around public health topics, reviewing specific strategic/policy initiatives and emerging/best practices relating to community/population health, and sharing this learned knowledge with engaged COHC volunteers.

Educational Aspect |
Learning outcomes may include: Identifying and using population and community health-related terminologies effectively in oral and written communication. Performing effectively in work teams, both as a leader and group participant. Understanding select contemporary federal and state health policy issues specifically relating to public and population health. Engaging in networking opportunities to create a network of connections from Central Oregon and the rest of the state.

Further Requirements |
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Undergraduate or Graduate students majoring in public health or another related field. Basic knowledge of healthcare reform. Basic knowledge of the Oregon Health Plan, expansion, and community/population health. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and related programs. Minimum GPA of 3.25 preferred.
