Must be interested in a career in the medical field, enjoy working with patients and be comfortable learning to work with a variety of medical software/computer systems that enable accurate, timely processes of retail pharmaceautical prescriptions. Potential to obtain a full-time position with medical and dental benefits upon successfully passing the PTCB National Board exam for pharmacy technicians. Pharmacy rents space inside Ray's Food Place in Sisters but is owned by the "Pill Box" group of pharmacies (Rice's Pharmacy in Corvallis & Lebanon/Dallas/Silverton Pill Box.) Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or GED, have no histories of legal felonies and be able to pass pre-employment and random drug testing during employment (including negative results for THC.) Looking for a fun, enthusiastic individual that is detail oriented andinterested in longterm employment in the Sisters area. Applicants must also be dedicated to showing up for their shifts despite inclimate weather, as we need to be their to help patients even in blizzards. Looking forward to having you help us provide compassionate, individualized care to our patients in Sisters and the surrounding area. Applicants are requested to bring their cover letter and resume to the pharmacy in person. Mailed or emailed resumes will not be considered.

Educational Aspect

COCC offers a 106 unit on-line pharmacy technician training course (tuition cost: $106/unit) plus fees, resulting in a total program cost of over $7,000. However, Oregon Board of Pharmacy currently allows pharmacies to buy PCTB Self-Study materials for an employee  and provide "on the job" training to become a nationally certified pharmacy technician. Sisters Drug also obtains a "learning technician" certificate from the Oregon Board of Pharmacy to legally enable an employee to receive this training. Instead of an individual paying tuition to COCC, we pay a candidate initally ($13-$14/hr) to work briefly as a pharmacy clerk to learn the basics of pharmacy operations. The pharmacy clerk is then transitioned to pharmacy technician duties (typing new prescriptions from prescribers, counting medications, labeling and filling prescription vials with medication, receiving/putting away daily drug orders, sending daily drug orders and assisting patients at the cash register). Pharmacy technicians also assist with medical records maintenance, invoice filing and prescription filing in accordance with Oregon Board of Pharmacy and DEA requirements. Applicants must be able to lift heavy boxes. Upon passing of the PCTB national certification exam (taken at COCC's testing center), certified pharmacy technician's salary increases to $17/hr with a top range of over $20/hr.
