JOB SUMMARY

The Communications Storytelling Intern works to create stories of Redmond School District students, staff members and programs through writing, photography or videography. This position will work with the District’s Communications Coordinator to promote the activities of the district.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following: Employees in this position perform some or all of

The following tasks. Other duties may be assigned:

1. Create stories using medium of choice (writing, photography, video/film) on an assignment basis

from the District’s Communications Coordinator.

2. Use District communication tools to organize and promote district news and stories.

3. Use time management skills to prioritize stories and assignments.

4. Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff,

and students in a professional manner.

5. Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.

6. Attend work regularly and be dressed appropriately.

7. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a standard office setting with the ability to work remotely under supervision of the Communications Coordinator. This role will frequently visit school facilities and off site locations and may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and blood-borne pathogens. The noise level in these environments is usually low to moderate and occasionally high.

▪ Be capable of producing accurate and timely work.

▪ Ability to use standard office applications such as MS Office and Google Apps.

▪ Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, administrators and others.

▪ Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with frequent interruptions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

▪ High School GPA of 2.0 or higher

▪ Enrolled in a Redmond School District High School

▪ A positive letter of recommendation from a high school staff member

▪ Interest in a creative field such as writing, photography or videography/film

▪ Work sample featuring writing, photography or videography skills
